Working With Inspire
Inspire looks for innovative, youth-focused nonprofit organizations in greater Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and San Francisco. Although all nonprofit organizations fitting this bill are encouraged to approach us to determine whether a relationship with Inspire makes sense, Inspire prioritizes those organizations that offer direct service to youth, such as schools and summer programs. How long are Inspire cases?
Typical Inspire cases run approximately 3-4 months, although timing
is flexible and Inspire case teams often extend or shorten timelines,
depending on the particular project.
How much do Inspire cases cost?
Inspire charges a nominal fee to cover transportation, printing,
and other small case team expenses. Since the success of Inspire cases is
driven by the commitment and collaboration by the client, these
minimal costs are also used to establish a sense of client investment.
Inspire is sensitive to the financial situations of nonprofit
organizations and is open to negotiating fees; historically, we have
done some cases pro bono.
What kind of output can I expect from an Inspire case?
Inspire projects are designed to significantly impact our client
organizations, specifically around issues of strategy and
organizational assessment. Projects typically create a series of
presentations that communicate insights and recommendations to the
organization. Many Inspire cases involve surveys to key stakeholders
and constituents and these results are shared throughout the duration
of the project. As a result, the final presentation should be a
summary of the recommended courses of action that have emerged
throughout the project.
What does Inspire expect from me as a client?
Inspire considers its project engagements to be a collaborative effort
and therefore does require a level of commitment from the client.
Clients are expected to be highly engaged in the project, meeting
occasionally with the case team to review findings and discuss next steps.
What’s the difference between working with Inspire and
working with one of its Sponsoring Firms?
As a completely volunteer-run organization of junior consultants,
Inspire takes on much smaller projects than the pro bono work of our
sponsoring firms. Inspire’s clients tend to either be smaller, younger
non-profit organizations or are smaller projects within a larger
organization.
